Jammu is known as the city of temples which is the southernmost region of the state nestled at the foothills of the Pir Panjal Mountains. The temples of Jammu are wrapped in age old myths, however some of the important tourist attractions of Jammu are Ranbireshwar Temple, Raghunath Temple, Bahu Fort & Gardens, Peer Baba, Mahamaya Temple, Lakshmi Narayan temple, Amar Mahal Palace, Sudh Mahadev temple, Gauri Kund, Mansar Lake, Purmandal. The important rivers which attracted the tourists are Ravi, Tawi and Chenab which make their way through the region carving spectacular gorges. Apart from the above tourist destinations of Jammu there is shrine of the Goddess Vaishnodevi around 48 Kms. away from Jammu is considered one of the most sacred places worship among the Hindus.
